The PerformAthlete
Long Term Athletic Development Pathway.

Since 2021 we have successfully developed hundreds of youth athletes across our school and Perform programs. These programs have progressively developed overtime into what we have found to give the greatest physical development to young aspiring athletes. But, it's not just the training that has been attributed to the success. It's the community, the skillsets, the attitudes, the self reliance and the small mentoring conversations our coaches have with the young athletes from day to day.

We have developed a pathway that has been proven to show the best success. This pathway consists of three levels. From an young person that has never stepped foot into a gym before. All the way through to state and national level youth athletes. We can cater for and develop all levels of youth athletes.

Our overall goal with this pathway is;

- Reduce the risk of injury.

- Improve the relationship with training (having fun while they develop).

- Improving their technical ability of the key movements within sport such as sprinting, jumping, throwing, changing direction and so on.

- Doing it the right way, the first time. Avoiding the requirement to re-learn movement patterns the correct way when they are older.

- Developing a wide base of physical preparation to increase longevity in sport.

- Become confident in their ability to read and apply training programs on their own.

- Be prepared to get in any representative team and show excellence due to the fact they have already been preparing that way through Perform.

Stage 1: Development - Introduction to Strength & Conditioning

Training age: 0-6 months
*Training age refers to how long they have spent completing quality strength & conditioning work.

This program is a 10-week program that starts and ends during each of the four school terms. This program focuses on all the foundational movement patterns. Our goal over the school term is to have them move successfully through all of the key fundamental movement patterns in order to develop the base of their athletic ability. This base will be built upon in stage 2.

Stage 2: Emerging Athlete

Training age: 1-3 years

Our Emerging program is the bridge between the introduction and high level Youth coaching. This is where we introduce the Youth athlete to building an understanding of the progressions required to move their way up the pyramid and build their athletic base as wide as possible. They work with the coaches in their Perform facility to build our their own programs. This will help develop autonomy and take some control with beginning to create, read and follow a program. While the coach focuses more on adjusting their technical movements.

Stage 3: Future PerformAthletes

Training age: 2-4 years

The futures program is for youth athletes that have a foundation of development but are needing a higher level of management. They require more direct guidance due to the fact they are currently within higher demanding levels of sport. This would include completing high volumes of sport (school and club) or being in state or national representative programs.

The youth athlete will be assigned a dedicated Perform coach for which they program and manage the youth athlete. The coach will use the same softwares and technology we use for our older PerformAthletes. This has more of a focus on the top end of youth development. The focus is on the ability for the youth athlete to stay healthy all while increasing performance in phases throughout the yearly sporting calendar.
